Installation of Flame detectors inside a fixed cone roof Storage Tank is not advisable, as inspection, testing and maintenance will not be safe and easy.

For immediate intervention Heat Detectors can be installed above the coneroof with Waterspray system to activate the spray system in case of any eventuality.

Perimeter installation will not be much effective than heat detector on the coneroof.

If you have the detection sensors ( anything), inside the tank, in a fire event, your detection system will die.
I think that the best option is linear detection in the outside perimeter.
Remmember, the Maintenance of the system is basic, for a good performance.

One of our customers has requested flame detection to protect cone roof storage tanks, zone 0. they want the detectors to be positioned INSIDE the tanks.
Has anyone come across similar requests and how have you dealt with it? I think it is unusual and we have recommended perimeter detection only.
